Athletics

Volleyball, Basketball, and Track are available as extracurricular activities, in addition to the regular Physical Education program included in the St. Lawrence School curriculum.

ATHLETIC POLICY

1.   The purpose of athletics at St. Lawrence is to:

 A.  Develop good sportsmanship

B.  Have an opportunity to participate

C.  Learn skills

D.  Improve techniques

2.         All students will be given a chance to participate if they are on a team.

3.         Improper language from a student on the floor or field will result in dismissal from the game or even loss of participation for one week.

4.         Fighting or any other inappropriate conduct in school may also result in dismissal from the team for one week at the discretion of the principal or the coach.

5.         Athletes must maintain their scholastic standing. Those with failing grades (a D or F in any subject on any mid term report or grade card) may not participate.

The student may participate in sports once the F has been raised to a C on the next grading period or mid term report.

6.         Practice times and game times will be published and made available to parents as far in advance as is practical and possible.

7.         School uniforms must be returned to school the following day after a scheduled game. DO NOT treat them as play clothes or wash them.

8.         A Christian attitude is to be displayed when hosting an event or when participating away so as to leave our opponents and fans with a positive impression of St. Lawrence and its students and parents.

9.         Parents are to conduct themselves in a spirit of encouragement and support.  City regulations mandate proper conduct by ALL. Parents or other family and friends are not to be “arm chair” or  third officials.

10.       A $10 athletic fee per sport will be assessed for each athlete.  The money will cover cleaning and maintenance of the uniforms.

11.       The principal and coach are held responsible for the behavior of players and fans.
